The Long Street planter is sited on the corner of Long Street and New Road. It was built to protect the pavement and houses from the traffic at what is a very busy cross-roads.
For many years, the owner of one of the houses planted and maintained the planter but after she passed away it fell into neglect. Eventually, a group of neighbours clubbed together to revive it and it is now cared for throughout the seasons by those volunteers.
This little planter provides just one more example of how a little effort by a few people can make a very big difference. Keep it going, folks!
