The Old Toilet Garden, as its name implies, is located on the site of a now-demolished public convenience on the A30. Because the ground is ashphalt on concrete the planting is in tubs and planters (although a buddleia does seem to have broken through of its own accord…)
A donor has offered to sponsor the plot to keep it planted through the seasons with bee-friendly plants. The Gryphon School pupils duly obliged and it is now in full bloom.
This little garden is now an amenity in quite a different sense from its original purpose!
