Christmas Festive Shopping

Every year we have a Festive Shopping Day on a Sunday before Christmas.

This year was no exception. The shops are all open, welcoming visitors with buns and drinks and showing off their lovely Christmas goods.

The streets are bustling, Santa comes along and we end up by lighting a Christmas tree and singing carols.

Happy Christmas to all our Bloomers!

Sherborne Abbey Two Minutes Silence

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month Sherborne  honours the fallen. The war memorial at the Abbey is where many people observe the two minutes silence.

100 years ago  on 7 August  (the day that Britain in Bloom judges visited us) Private Thomas William Read of Sherborne died, aged 18, at  the third Battle of Passchendaele.
And here are all the wreaths and crosses  in memory of the fallen:

We will remember them.
