The Pageant Garden was opened in 1906 and is named after a famous pageant which was held in 1905 in the Castle grounds to commemorate the 1200th anniversary of the founding of the Abbey. The garden is owned and maintained by Sherborne Town Council.
The iconic band-stand is a central feature of the garden and is used regularly by the Sherborne Town Band and others on public occasions:
The garden is a popular venue for community groups to meet and it is well attended by all generations:
Various beds in the garden have been planted by organisations in the community, including Gryphon School, Sherborne Girls’ School and Sherborne Brownies, amongst others.
This superb garden is a real jewel in Sherborne’s crown and a great credit to all those who maintain and care for it!
